Stocks failed to recover on Tuesday as Wall Street fell with the Dow falling 100 points or -0.40%, the S&P 500 down -0.15% and the Nasdaq flat. Investors didn’t get any relief as markets experienced sharp losses on Monday with the Dow falling 600 points.

US markets kicked off the new week in poor form plunging as falling oil prices, a stronger US dollar and resurfacing trade worries sent investors into a selling frenzy. The Dow fell for than 600 points down 2.32%, the S&P 500 fell 1.97% and the Nasdaq got smashed falling 2.78%.

US equities fell on Friday following lower oil prices, sparking fear of a global economic slowdown among investors along with weaker than expected producer inflation from China dampened sentiment. The Dow fell 0.77%, The S&P 500 fell 0.92% and the Nasdaq fell 1.65%, being the worst performer.

On Thursday markets reversed course closing lower as investors looked to the Federal Reserve for their latest decision on monetary policy.  As widely anticipated the Fed kept interest rates unchanged at a range of 2%-2.25%, however in a statement to the press afterwards said that they expect further gradual increases. The Dow finished the session +0.04%, the S&P 500 -0.25% and the Nasdaq fell -0.53%.

US markets soared on Wednesday as the midterm elections results came in as expected, getting rid of lingering uncertainty amongst investors in the market. The Democrats gained control of the House of Representatives while Republicans retained the Senate. A gridlocked parliament historically has proven to provide strength in equity markets. Markets hit the session highs after President Trump suggested he would be willing to work with Democrats on policy initiatives. The Dow rose 2.13%, the S&P 500 rose 2.12% and the Nasdaq rose 2.64%.

US equities rose on Tuesday as investors eagerly awaited the results of midterm elections with the Dow +0.68%, S&P 500 +0.63% and the Nasdaq +0.64%. Since the morning, Dow futures have jumped as the results of the elections have trickled through the polls and have been trading higher after initially falling away after the Australian market open.

US equities rose on Thursday posting gains after a disappointing month following comments from President Donald Trump indicated potential progress in U.S.-China trade relations. Trade sensitive stocks Boeing and Caterpillar rose 2.3 percent and 2.8 percent respectively. The Dow rose 1.06%, the S&P 500 rose 1.06% and the Nasdaq rose 1.75%.

There green on the screen returned as stocks opened strongly on Wednesday as the major indexes closed the month of October on a slightly positive note, yet still down for the month overall. The Dow rose +0.97%, the S&P 500 rose +1.09% and the Nasdaq was higher by 2.01%.

It was another turbulent sessions for US equities as stocks finished lower on Tuesday with the Dow down 0.99%, S&P 500 -0.66% and the Nasdaq down 1.63%. We saw the down trade a 900 point range and the S&P 500 close in correction territory.
